Shivanthi
Hi, I’m Shiv or Shivanthi. I’m a Data Coordinator, responsible to upload ECheck, AI packets, Facility update, and Facility citations. I was first hired in Oct. 2021 then officially hired me in December as a pay employee.
I used to work as a volunteer Nurse in Ontario, Canada was my first volunteer job in High School, then after working at IBM as a PC Technician/Auditor Supervisor for 3 years in Ontario, Canada. In 2002, I decided to go to college at National Institute for the deaf in Rochester, NY and graduate in 2005 with AOS Degree for Applied Art and Computer Design. Then I moved to California with my parents where they lived in Ontario which is funny because my former home was in the province Ontario in Canada and moved to a California city named Ontario. I started a job as a Graphic Designer in the City of Industry for Advance JDM Auto Parts and In.Pro.Car.Wear. I resigned from that job. Then I foundmy faith in Jesus at Los Angeles Deaf Church (LADC) and met a woman who offered me a part-time job at California Home for the Adult Deaf (CHAD). At CHAD I was hired to do housekeeping in 2011 then became promoted as an RCFE Administrator then I quit the job transfer to a different job as a Data Entry in Orange county for temporary took a break from working and then I got a called from Marie to work for her in 2021 as a Data Coordinator at AHAC which I really enjoyed so far. At the same time I was involved in church ministry at LADC as a Worship Leader, Children Ministry, Women's Leader at Los Angeles Deaf Church in 2008 to 2014. Then move to a different church at Inter-Community Church of God in Covina doing the same position as a women's leader, worship leader, board member, and treasurer from 2014 to 2022. Then God called me to plant a church and become a lay pastor at Under His Wings in San Dimas in 2022 to now.
Fun Facts:
I'm an artist, I love interior design, gardening, and animal lover. I have rescued 4 dogs from the street and they lived with me. I am a lay pastor for the deaf ministry and planted more churches in the future which God has shown me in vision from 2009 to now. I'm very outgoing and love meeting new people. I loved to travel like my dad. I was born in Sri Lanka then at the age 4 we moved to Nigeria, Africia, then at age 6 moved to London, England where I lived with my aunt. Then at the age 7 we moved to Quebec, Montreal (Canada) where I first attend 2 different schools every day where they drop me off at the first school for a couple of hours then drive to the next school called Montreal Oral School and then meet another place for speech therapy from Monday to Friday. My brother couldn't understand French when our family decided to move to Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and I went to deaf and hard of hearing mainstream school mix with a hearing student where I was raised as an oral student. When I arrived at high school it was my first time seeing deaf people using Sign Language. I got scared because from where I grew up I was always doing oral and never knew my identity as a deaf person. So I met a girl who traveled with me on the same bus every day. She taught me sign language and now I am proud to be a deaf person. My parents were upset that I started to lose my voice when communicating with them. But they accepted me as a deaf later when I met my husband who is deaf. So I still use my voice (not a skilled voice) around with my hearing people and use sign language with my deaf people. I have done zipline, skydiving, scrub diving, ATV, RZR, and Jet speed boat. I also experienced swimming with the dolphin and I met lots of sharks when scrub diving.
